As you plan your charitable giving, the Grafton Heritage Partnership Project would like to make you aware of a variety of ways you can give to our organization. The federal government permits donors to offset charitable contributions against taxable income, thus reducing your tax liability. Please consult with your financial advisor for advice.
- Cash Gifts
Gifts of cash should be made payable to the Grafton Heritage Partnership Project. Donations of cash are fully deductible-up to a maximum of 50% of your adjusted gross income and contributions in excess of the percentage limitations may be carried over for a five-year period.
- Annual Giving
Become a "Friend" of Grafton and give an annual payment every year. The Friends of Grafton Program is being established to raise needed funds for our operating
budget.
- Commemorative Giving
You may gift in honor of someone. We will acknowledge the gift
by sending a letter to the designated recipient.
- Memorial Giving
You may make a gift to honor a friend or loved one. We will acknowledge the gift by sending a
letter to a designated recipient. We would also list their name in a special book that would be available in the Russell Home.
- Appreciated Securities or Property
Publicly traded stocks or real estate that have appreciated in value and have been held for more than twelve months offer two advantages. Capital gains are not paid on the appreciation. The current value qualifies as charitable contribution. To avoid the capital gains tax, you must make the donation before the securities are sold. The Partnership must receive the securities as a gift and will then sell the security in the Partnership's name. The unrealized appreciation of capital gains or property may be subject to the alternative minimum tax for some donors. Gifts of appreciated stock or property are fully deductible-up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income
in the year of the gift. Contributions in excess of the percentage limitations may be carried over for a five-year
period or until the value of the donation is used up,
whichever comes first. Please consult with your financial advisor before a gift is given.
- Bequests
Include the Grafton Heritage Partnership Project in your will or trust. A person could contribute an amount per year, which would in effect create an endowment generating contributions over the long term. A specific bequest in a will or trust is an outright gift of money or other property.
- Auction Items
The Partnership would accept donated items that we could auction at a fundraiser to raise funds for the organization. For example collectibles such as, fine art, coin collections or antiques.
