The Russell Home

Standing next to the School is the badly vandalized Russell home. In 1861 Alonzo Habenton Russell came to Grafton and built this adobe-walled home with his two wives Nancy and Louissa. Originally the building had a beautiful hand-crafted front porch where Alonzo's family often met to socialize, sing and listen to the music of his guitar.

This privately owned home is now badly in need of repair. Vandals removed the porch support beams for firewood in 1994. This caused the porch to fall, taking the second story wall with it.
