Russell Home Restoration: Ready for Funding
With the successful Grafton church/schoolhouse restoration behind us, the Partnership is ready for the next big challenge - raising
funds for the urgently needed restoration of the Russell home.
Standing directly east of the church/school, the Russell home offers an elegant example of how Grafton's families once flourished. But decades of harsh weather, vandalism and relative neglect have left this architectural gem in alarmingly poor shape. The partnership now owns this home that is approximately 136 years old. Its adobe bricks are currently covered in a layer of crumbling stucco that was installed during the making of The Arizona Kid in 1930.
The homes roof beams are falling in, its foundation is weak, and its graceful porch, which was apparently added in the early 1900s, was dismantled by vandals in the mid-1990s for firewood.
But the recent restoration of the church/school has given the Partnership renewed hope that the Russell home can regain its pre-abandonment grandeur.
The restoration team - architects, adobe makers, and wood workers - is ready to work their magic on the Russell home.
But we must first raise the needed funds. With your help, we can make it happen. The Partnership invites you to support this restoration at whatever level you are able.
